Legal Question in Family Law in California

Where I'm from the courts had given me physical and legal custody of my son, and his father was granted 2 weeks of each summer. but he never wanted to take him during the time given to him. Well a few years later I was going through a divorce and I called his father for help and asked him to help me and take our son because I at the time didnt know where I was going to go, I had no money, and I felt it was in the best interest of my son that he stay with his father for a couple of weeks. My son's father and I had agreed that he was to get my son and care for him til I had figured things out. Well it wasn't even a month since he had taken my son when I tried to get him back. His father then informed me that he filed abandonment charges and he now had custody of my son. Back where we had our custody hearings it was noted that the courts back home had jurisdiction of this case. I have already made contact with the courts and informed them that they issued a warrant for non payment of child support for my son's father and also gave them contact information and still its going on three months and nothing has been done? I dont understand how the state of tenn, could grant him custody especially if another state has jurisdiction of this case.... What should I do?

The TN courts most likely don't know what is really going on. You need to contact a TN attorney about this.

I agree with Mr. McCormick. This is a mess and it needs to be straighten out as soon as possible. You will need an attorney in Tennessee and you may after that need an attorney in California.

Good luck
