Legal Question in Family Law in California

coustody and adoption

My husband and I have taken care of 2 children foe all of there lifes and we obtained guardianship of them very early on, we are not blood related to the children. In 2006 the grandparents filed to remove us and to be apointed guardians themselfs, the court granted co-guardianship. Well we paid for an adoption in Jan 2008 and our lawyer never filed and now the grandparents have filed with the court, Is it still posible for us to retain coustody and adopt the children ourselfs?

Re: coustody and adoption

Yes it is possible. The court should look at the amount of time that the children are with you and how much time the children are with the grandparents. Move quickly or the grand parents may get to court first.
