Legal Question in Family Law in California

credit card debt.

would my wife be responsible for my dept if she walked out on me 4 years ago and the credit cards were only in my name. we are not leagley separted or divorced

You need to read California Family Code Section 2623 to get your answer.

Your wife would only be responsible for 50% the debt incurred by either of you before she walked out on you. After she walked out she is 100% responsible for the debt she incurs even on your credit card.
