Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am the custodial parent to my daughter. Her father who lived out of state has moved back and has been granted visitation. He is fighting to be the custodial parent. The judge is ordering the two of us to go to mediation and back to court. I am thinking about getting a lawyer, but I fear that we wont come to any agreement. How often do judges order a court appointed person to come to the home and decide which is the better parent? I fear they will chose the father because he is currently living with his mother.

If you wish to spend $6,000.00 or more for a court ordered child custody evaluation to hire a court approved evaluator to do ths report, then the court may consider your request. You better choice is to hire an experienced family law attorney to explore your best legal options and to see if any agreements short of trial can be reached.
