Legal Question in Family Law in California

Custody for an animal

I'm only 16, and I was given a $5,000 horse as a gift from my dad, then when I went to live w/ my mom my dad wouldn't give my horses back! And he won't tell me why. I have friends, and Famliy who say he's said that he gave me the horse. Is there any way I could get my horse back? If so please help! This horse means a lot to me!

Re: Custody for an animal

First a some questions for you: 1. has your mother agreed to take the horse; 2. do you have a place to keep the horse; 3. who will pay the monthly costs of keeping a horse; what transportation is available to transport the horse if you were to get it.

Your mother would have to go to court and request a court order that the horse be given to you. Each of the above questions would have to be answered before a court would consider ordering the horse given to you.
