Legal Question in Family Law in California

custody battle

My husband has a daughter from a previous relationship. A few years ago, after he broke things off with her, the mother made up a domestic violence charge, lied about a lot of other things, got a restraining order and a really rich new boyfriend to pay her legal fees and got custody of his daughter. Although the DV charge was dropped, his lying ex still has the restraining order. After being threatened by the new boyfriend, a 60+ year old man, and being told by the judge that he should grow up and that his Miranda rights didn't mean anything(he wasn't read his rights in the arrest)he moved to northern california to get away from the situation. We recebtly moved back and are trying to get get some amount of custody or visitation, but we don't have the money to compete with her well paid and very shady lawyers. any advice on how to get a fair deal this time?

Re: custody battle

follow the court order to the letter, take all your visits, journal communications, stay completely involved with your child physically and through decisions.
