Legal Question in Family Law in California
I'm currently going through a custody battle with my sons father. He has recently agreed to grant me sole legal custody of our son. Will a notarized letter stating that he is granting me sole custody be valid for me to turn into the court before our hearing with the judge?

Yes, you should file copy of the agreement with the court attached to your declaration prior to the court hearing. The court will probably inquire of both of you (assuming that you are both present in court) as to the agreement, and if there is no change of mind by the father in court, the court will more than likely, order what you agreed to. You should know however that the court can order something different than what you agreed to, and will do so if it feels that it is in the best interest of the child.
