Legal Question in Family Law in California
i have a custody case in LA county pomona court house. i live in north eastern NV and the non custodial parent lives in las vegas. i need to file for a change of venue, so i can take care of all my court issues in my own county. my son has lived here for over a year now and with out a change of venue i cant fix my order unless i drive 11 hrs to california. i cant seem to get any one on the phone from pomona, and i cant find forms to file for change of venue. can you please help me? with a phone number i can talk to a person or with the name of the forms i need? thank you so much,

This is more than a change of venue. It is an interstate transfer of jurisdiction. You have the textbook case for such a transfer. Neither parent still lives in the original state of jurisdiction and you want to transfer the case to the state of the child's principal residence. This is, however, a somewhat uncommon proceeding and therefore it is not one that there are just check the box forms to use. You will need to file a proceeding in the existing California case for the court to surrender jurisdiction and offer it to Nevada, and then a proceeding in Nevada to take jurisdiction. You will need assistance in both states to do this.
