custody change question

i wanted to know if its possible to change my request in court in regards to i want full joint custody of my children .but when i filesd he papers i put i wanted him to have physical custody of the kids and i have joint legal custody.so now i want to know do i have to file new court papers or can i bring it up to judge on my court date?its just beofre i had no idea on how to file papers i was learning lil by little

You should file an amended response or petition. Most family courts have a liberal policy allowing amendments of this sort.
