Legal Question in Family Law in California

Custody of my child

My child has my last name, but her father has signed her birth certificate does that give permission to take my child from me, she has only seen him maybe 5 times in her whole life, but it wasn't any father daughter time or anything like that. I am also an enrolled member of the Tule River Indian Reservation. I am extremely interested in what i can do to make sure that he doesn't take my child from me.

Re: Custody of my child

You should talk to an attorney who handles such cases for Indian tribes. The tribes generally have jurisdiction over custody cases of tribal children and not the Californi courts. That exhausts my knowledge of the system and it is a very specialized area of law. You should seek advice from an attorney who is knowledgeable in the are of indian custody immediately.
