Re: Custody of non married couples.

Your friend should contact an attorney in order to file a Petition To Establish Parental Relationship, so that she can get court orders on child custody, child visitation and child support. Through this action, she can also file an Order To Show Cause in an attempt to obtain temporary orders. Your friend will have an opportunity to explain to the Judge why she should have custody and why the father should not have visitation. The father will have an opportunity to respond. Based on the information and evidence provided, the Judge will make his or her decision and will make orders on child custody, child visitation, and child support.
