How to get custody of a non-related child
I am trying to get custody of a 15 yr old who has lived with me for the last 6 weeks after her two sisters and brother were taken from her mother because of leaving the children alone at night and drug use. The other three children are now with the biological father. (not the biological father of the 15 yr old. The 15 yr olds biological father is not able to care for the child. He thinks that the child should be with me. I dont have any idea what to do. The child desperatley wants to stay with me. Because she is older and not a biological child like the other 3 the court did removed teh child. She just asked to stay awhile with me and her mothert allowed it up until now. At this point the mother has been brought up on criminal charges for leaving the younger children alone and has not taken any steps tword redemeimg herself for the court or dealing with her drug addiction. Everyone say that I cant do much because I am not related. Is there any advice for me. Thanks

You may petition the court for guardianship. It requires several filings and a hearing. Call me directly at 16192223504.

You should file a petition for guardianship. The biological father should request that you be the guardian. The services of an attorney will be needed to proceed with this smoothly.
