Legal Question in Family Law in California

If there is no custody order can I relocate to another state with my son? I am the primary caregiver.

Move aways are always challenging, since you have sole custody you probably would be given the ability to move away, but the other parent should be given notice and an opportunity to respond. Therefore it's usually a good idea to file papers in court requesting the move away, instead of just moving. If you do move without telling the other parent, they may try to file paperwork to get you to come back which would be very disruptive and expensive if you've already spent the money on the move.
