Legal Question in Family Law in California
custody
my question is this if the so-called father of my daughter has never seen her or attempted to do so and is not on the birth certificate does this mean that i have full custody? Also i was told that if the parent had made no attempt to see the child or be a part of their life in a matter of two years or more that that was considered legal abandonment is this true? One more thing if I do have full custody of my child who is now two years of age do i still have the right to child support without having to share custody?
Thank you,
a concerned mother

Re: custody
You have sole custody at this time because the idenity of the father of your child has not been established. Once paternity has been established he will have parental rights. The extent of his contact with the child will depend upon many factors, which you did not include. For example, what knowledge does he have regarding the child, the court and the judge in your case.
