I just recently seperated with my husband. I need to get temperary custody how do I go about it? Do I need a lawyer for that. Thanks

you dont need a lawyer, it is optional. you can get the forms from the court clerk.

You probably don't need a lawyer if it is uncontested. If it becomes contested then you must consider if you can afford to lose a contested custody case. If you can't afford to lose, you can't afford to go into court without representation of an attorney. If you believe that the child(ren) can live at either home then you must balance the benefit of the attorney with the costs. My suggestion is to get an initial consultation with an experienced family law attorney so that you can make an educated decision. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
