Legal Question in Family Law in California

custody and relocation

My husband and I are planning to move from california to kansas. The reasons are cost of living, family and schooling. My ex-husband verbally agreed when he was considering moving to georgia first. He has since changed his plans and is staying in Ca. He now wants me to change mine. California is financially viable for him and his new family, but not for me and mine. Since I have primary custody, do I have any choice or am I held to him and his whims?

Re: custody and relocation

If he won't agree, and depending on what the prior orders state, you can take him to court and request a move-away order. Not a slam dunk, but there's a good chance.
