Legal Question in Family Law in California
I have custody of my two sons ages 1 and 3 since my ex husband abandoned us in June 2009 and moved to Houston. I am in the process of filing for divorce. If I left to go to school in HOuston at the end of this month and left m children with their grandparents do i lose the upper hand? What are the steps I need to take to ensure i keep custody?

Custody is a complicated issue, it would be best if you consult with an attorney before taking a drastic step like moving away from your residence. I would suggest if you can stay in CA and file for divorce in CA. You can file for full custody in CA and your husband would have to come back to CA if he contests it.
Please consult a local attorney in your area prior to taking legal action. Good luck.
