Custody/Support Change

I've had 50/50 custody since '94. Three children, one 18 now.The 15 & 12 year old would prefer to live mostly with me (nearer to friends, school, etc.)and their mother is a ''yeller''. I want to reduce the support so they at least have a chance to go to college. She refusses to do anything but minimum wage jobs and refuses higher paid jobs and training. Isn't it in the ''best interest'' of the children's future to go to college? It can't happen when the mother uses the children as her ''paycheck''. Any experience with something like this? Also, the kids are afraid to tell her how they feel about the living arangements.

Your best option is to have a vocational evaluation performed, and then ask the court to impute income to her based on the vocational evaluation.

I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!

You should ask the court to direct her to have a vocational evaluation. They may allow this with proper supporting information. Your kids can help, however, they will need possible to see a cour mediator/psych. Call to discuss.
