Legal Question in Family Law in California

I was dating someone. The relationship didn't work out and we parted our ways. I had purchased a car which she was driving but still in my name. After our separation (which wasn't on the best of terms), I took the car from her. I'd given her money to get the car fixed and asked her to return the money. Our children (none which belong to me, nor does mine belong to her), go to the same school and the best of friends even treated each other like brothers. She started telling her kids not to affiliate with my son. I sent her text messages asking her why get the kids involved in this? She continued to talk to different people making me out to be this bad person and I'd send her a text message asking her why and informing her that she was only making herself look bad in the other people's eyes as they would come back and tell me as well as make negative comments which I would tell her in the text messages. About 2 months ago, I received a phone call from the Long Beach Police Dept. They only left a message with the officers name and asked me to return their call. I made several attempts, calling leaving voice mails, talked to other officers at the station and gave them messages, even talked to the secretary and left messages, but never received a return phone call. So I pretty much just dropped it and moved on with my life. During the time we were together, she was going through a child custody which I paid for and accepted full liabilities. After we parted, she informed the attorney that she would pay the balance and I was to know nothing about her case. I was fine with this and again moved on with my life. A few days ago I received a phone call from the attorney stating that he had been trying to get in touch with her and she hadn't paid him for the court appearance which is on the 26th of October and even if she didn't show, he had to because these are stipulations set by California State Law. I in turn sent her a letter telling her that he'd contacted me. I even went as far as to say the bottom line of it all was as a man of my word, if she didn't pay him, I would, but it would be in her best interest as well as of no benefit to either of us if she didn't appear in court and yet I had to pay. This morning I was informed by the school she came to them and stated that per the Long Beach Ca. Police Dept. I'm not to contact her in any way. Again I never received anything stating there was a restraining order against me and am very concerned over this and what can I do about it?

You need to do the following three things:

1. Find out from the Long Beach Police if they issued an "Emergency Protective Order."

2. Find out from the court house if she obtained a restraining order behind your back, and then get copies of the order so you can comply with it.

3. Stop contacting her and involving yourself in her business, especially if you are really trying to move on with your life. You have no obligation to pay her attorney if you are not obligated under the attorney client retainer agreement. You are just asking for trouble playing her flaky games.
