Legal Question in Family Law in California
My daughter is 6 weeks old. I left her biological father a week before i found out i was pregnant because he left welts on my leg with a drumstick but i never reported it. He repeatedly harassed me while i was pregnant and had followed me once. He has a battery charge and a drug possession charge. he has yet to see her either. he has asked once or twice but hasnt really tried. If he takes me to court wat are his chances? and if he goes so long with never meeting her can he lose his parental rights?

If he takes you to court and 1) is the biological father and; 2) there are no other potential non-biological fathers in the picture; - his chances of being declared the legal father along with the rights and responsibilities that go along with it are pretty good. If the court finds that his behavior in regards to drug use and violence would put your daughter at risk - his visitation would be limited, monitored or supervised.
Consider meeting with an experienced family law attorney to assess if you could benefit from a personal restraining order to protect you and your child.
