Legal Question in Family Law in California
My daughter's mom was misguided.
We have a daughter together. We have never been married. We are no longer together but we are still on very good terms. I dont make good money and she wants more so someone told her to get help from the county. She filed for custody and was told by county she had to file SOLE Legal and SOLE Physical. My question is, can she still receive financial assistance if LEGAL custody is JOINT??

Re: My daughter's mom was misguided.
Whether custody is sole or joint, for both physical and legal, has nothing to do with whether or not she will receive AFDC or other child support. The only factor that influences child support is where the child lives and the per cent of time spent in each home. Either she miss understood what she was told or she is trying to take advantage of you.
