Legal Question in Family Law in California

Dead beat dad

My wife's x-husband has filed with the courts to reduce his child support payments. After getting a copy of his past history of payments, we found that he is $8,000 in arrears. She has recieved 3 payments from him in 2 years. We have custody 78% of the time. After the court date the judge ruled that he is no longer required to pay support at all, but $50/month towards arrears, is this possible? What happend to this so called ''Dead beat dad law''?

Re: Dead beat dad

I guess it must be possible because it happened. There is no "dead beat dad law", so I do not know what you are referring to in that question. Have the situation reviewed by an attorney who can explain how it is possible or what you can do to correct that problem. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
