death during divorce

My husband left me a year ago,I filed for divorce recently,and during search for husband to serve I found out he has died. No children, no assets, no property, no moneys to divide, what is my next step?

Once he died the marriage was dissolved. Unless there is property of significant value there is little you need to do. For low value items such as a vehicle take a certified copy of the death certificate to the DMV to change the title into your name alone. The same process would apply to bank accounts. The only catch would be if his family complained claiming the the property was his separate property and they have an interest in it. Before talking to an attorney obtain information regarding property that is either in both names or his name alone. then go to the attorney's office to discuss the matter.
