Legal Question in Family Law in California

Defamation of character

My exwife has told numerous people at my childrens school and around town that I have beat her numerous times resulting in 30+ broken bones and frequent hospital stays. She has also been recently telling these things to our children. All claims are completely untrue. What is my legal recourse?

Re: Defamation of character

You could file for defamation, but it might be better to go back to family court and file an OSC for an order for clarification of prior orders that the parties are not to speak negatively about each other, if in fact that was a prior order.

You should consult with an attorney in your area. Someone needs to find out what the past orders were, what the current custody/visitation schedule is, whether custody should be changed, etc.

There are many questions in my mind because there is missing information as to what would be the best course of action in your case.

Re: Defamation of character

get a family law order restraining her from saying anything negative about you to the children.
