Default Judgment

Do I have to file one? or can I put it off? regarding the marriage

Depends on what county you are in. In Los Angeles County, few judges force you to file the default judgment or dismiss the case. Some counties -- San Bernardino, keep the cases on a schedule and will force you to do that. If you have a good reason for the delay, the court may accept it and let you wait, like if you need to resolve a related immigration issue before you finalize the divorce.
