Legal Question in Family Law in California

default judgment

I've been trying to obtain a divorce for over two years. My husband would not negotiate, so I retained an attorney. My husband still would not respond. Finally, I obtained a default judgment. Now my husband has contacted an attorney and would like to negotiate. My attorney has advised me to agree to the negotiation. This does not sound like good advice since I have a judgment. Is my attorney providing sound advice or should I retain a different attorney (if my husband files an appeal)?

Re: default judgment

It is impossible to give you advice without a complete review of your entire case, when the judgment was taken and what issues your husband now wants to negotiate. If you doubt your attorney's advice, get a second opinion. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
