Legal Question in Family Law in California

Definition of ''Temporary Support Order''

Me and my ex have a Temporary Support Order for child custody with my four year old son. What does that mean? Why is it Temporary? Also, when the other parent has broken the specific ''rules'' of the order, what can the other parent do about it?

Temporary means it is not the final order, and it is therefore easier to modify.

I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!

Re: Definition of ''Temporary Support Order''

Sometimes during the course of a divorce or paternity action one of the parties files an OSC for child custody/support. However, the orders which are made are only temporary orders pending trial. The permanent orders are made at trial. It is easier to modify temporary custody orders than it is to modify permanent orders. There are too many rules to explain in this short missive. You should consult an attorney.
