Demand for production of papers and other things CCP 2031

What is the purpose of this demand in a divorce proceeding. As the fiance, do I require a lawyer if I have to provide finanacial information requested in this demand (as the fiance) that I do not feel the former spouse if prevy too?

You did not state what type of demand to produce was made. A subpeona must be responded to unless the court issues an order quashing or limiting the subpeona.
