Dissolving the legal guardianship of a minor

How do I dissolve the legal guardianship of a minor? Is there usually a cost associated with dissolving a guardianship in California?

You have to return to court and file an application to dissolve the guardianship. The court will require that your show that there is another competent party who will assume guardianship. If you are dissolving the guardianship because you cannot supervise or monitor the child you will have to prove that the child must be institutionalized to get the care he deserves.

While it is always challenging to raise someone else's kid, please consider the impact this may have on the child. Attempt counseling or other forms of intervention to help get control back into your hands. Good luck
