Legal Question in Family Law in California

Distribution of assets for Divorce

I got married less than a year ago. We want to file for a divorce. I had assets before i got married in another country. Is my wife entitled to a share of those assets also?

In a general sense, no, unless your earnings during the marital period were used to pay for, improve or in any contribute to your separate property.

For a specific opinion regarding your individual circumstances, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!

The income from such property is community property but not the assests themselves. You may be elligible for summary dissolution. Call me directly at (619) 222-3504.
