How does the District Attorney set the fees for child support?

I thought Child Support was based on the amount of money I made in a month's time. They are taking out over $500 for one child and over $435 for the other child and I don't make $2400 each month.

Child support is generally based on dad's gross income, mom's gross income and the amount of time the child is with each parent. There is a provision for a deduction for child support that is actually paid for a child of another relationship. There are few other factors that may also be considered.
