Legal Question in Family Law in California

dividing retirement account in divorce

How can I find out whether it is worth my while to file to split my soon-to-be ex-husbands company sponsored pension plan account for the years that we were married? We cohabitated for 8 years (2 before marriage and 6 after) and have been separated for the past eight years. I am not financially secure, but I don't want to add the aggrevation if the amount would be a very small amount. This would be the only potentially contested issue if I decide to include it. How can I find out the monetary amount in question?

Re: dividing retirement account in divorce

You should join the pension plan as a party to the dissolution action and then you can determine the information directly from them. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
