Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce Advice

I recently (2 months ago)married a man from South Korea. We were planning on filling paper work for his green card, in the process of finding an apartment etc.My husband has been out of town until today when he told me he wanted a divorce. I also found out that he has over stayed his visia and therefor is here illegally. Financially he was to have paid all expenses for moving etc. but now that he wants a divorce refuses to do so. His money comes from his family in S. Korea so I'm not sure how to go about alimony (if I'm eligable) etc. Aside from having better judgement in a mate what are my options. Also, can he be deported for this and if so how?

Re: Divorce Advice

It is unlikely that you will receive spousal support.

You should probably chalk this up to experience - get rid of the guy and move on with your life.

In a general sense, after a 2 month marriage you are probably not going to get a significant amount of spousal support, perhaps none.

For a specific opinion regarding your individual circumstances, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
