divorce attorney abandoning me and my case

i have paid my atty 25,000 and owe 8,000 and rec'd a letter asking to be relieved of the case. she has spent the past 10 months doing discovery, hiring forensic acct's, 730 eval and i haven't been to court, receive no money from my x, i live in the home and he is trying to get me out... can she abandon me? what can i do? where can i get another attorney that will go after my x for the funds? i have no money and have borrowed to give her the funds and am selling everything i have to feed our child i have physical custody of... there is domestic violence and she won't proceed with anything to get teh 600k in equity of our property? he moved in across the street and is trying to get me to move out and is trying to starve me out knowing i have no money to pay my attorney... he is self employeed and says he makes no money... please help me...

If there is 600k equity in real property you should be able to get an attorney to represent you with the fee being secured by the equity in the real property.

Yes, she can abandon you if she claims she is not being paid. Look around and see if you can find an attorney who is willing to take a lien against the real property, if you have equity in it.

In addition to Ms. Healy's advice, if you are out of money you might want to try legal aid in the county in which you live.
