Legal Question in Family Law in California
Divorce
My brother and his wife married here in the states (Georgia) 15 years ago. They then moved to Germany where his wife is from. They have lived there for about 12 years. They have one child that they had after they moved there. My brother has never become a german citizen. my brother has been working there the entire time, mostly jobs gotten through the american embassy. His wife owns an apartment building which she got from her mother and manages the property, my brother has done all of the up keep when he is not working his job. They have separate bank accounts.. he says he has never seen her's... weird! She recently has asked him to leave and wants a divorce. Can she force him out of their home? They currently rent one of her mom's units in another complex there. What are his rights if any? Can she file for divorce in germany since they were married here in the states? What about custody of their child? Does he have rights to half of the personal property, and the apartment building? Thank you for your time.

Re: Divorce
Based on my understanding of the facts here, California does not have jurisdiction over this matter. You'd have to get answers from an attorney in Germany.
