Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce and child custody

I am in the process of a divorce but we have been seperated for 2 years. My ''ex'' has had no contact with me or my daughter for over a year and a half, and we have not recived a single cent in support in 2 years. Can I ask him to sign over parental rights with the promise of not prusuing the child support?

You can ask him, but you cannot bargain away the child's right to support from the other parent. If the court terminates his parental rights then his duty to pay support could be suspended. The court normally does not terminate parental rights unless there is another person available to adopt the child.
