Legal Question in Family Law in California
Divorce and community property
My current husband and I bought our home prior to getting married. I had bad credit so to get the best rate we went with just his name. Our agreement was to pay the household finances together. I became responsible for the household needs and bills and he paid the mortgage. Now after 6 years were getting a divorce. What do I do? How do I protect my part of our investment?

You will need to prove that the there was an agreement to share the value of the property equally. Showing the source of the money for the down payment may be helpful in proving your case. A part of the preparation for trial is to determine the amount of equity in the property.
