If a couple are going through divorce and it is almost final, would sleeping together be grounds to end the proceedings

You don't need "grounds" ... you only need a desire on the part of the Petitioner to set aside the Judgment before it becomes final. If you are the Respondent, you can always ask; but only the Petitioner has that power.
