Divorce Decree

My divorce was final 8/06 and I was awarded money from an IRA account. I am having trouble with the ex-spouse to release these funds. What should my next step be.

The general procedure for dividing the money in a retirement account is through the use of a QDRO (Qualified Domestic Retirement Order) This order provides for the division of the retirement account without adverse consequences to either party. You should review the terms of the order for the division of the retirement account. Retaining an attorney to review order and then reviewing the options.
