what is the fastest way to get a divorce from an absent spouse?

It really depends on what you mean by absent. If you cant find the spouse you can ask the court to allow you to serve the other party by publication.

In general the spouse must be served. If you can not locate your spouse, you can ask the judge to allow you to serve your spouse by publication in the newspaper
