Re: divorce
A divorce is not final when filed, nor when served. If you are in Orange County, there will be a mandatory settlement meeting before even going to court. You will still have to go to before a judge. Then you will receive papers in about 6 months letting you know the divorce has been finalized. You should contact an attorney to help you through this process. "www.divorce.com" also has some information (not my site). I still recommend an attorney, however, especially if children are involved. If both parties are agreeable, an attorney can mediate. I am available should you have any questions. (714)321-2144.

Nothing herein shall constitute an attorney-client

NOW, IN RESPONSE TO YOUR INQUIRY --
Martial status can not be terminated until six
months after Respondent is served. All other issues
can be settled or litigated earlier. Set the
matter for trial and negotiate against that deadline.
Good luck with your case.
