Legal Question in Family Law in California

My divorce became final May 18th in the papers he was to start paying $200 on tthe 15th of March and the 30th etc. Plus $505.00 for Disney he broke. I have had to come to Albuquerque to help my brother who has cancer. A freind walked the papes for me and I finally got a wage assignment that started in July. He knows I am here helping my brother and is now trying to take me back to court saying he can't pay what the judge has already ordered. I am to be in court on the first of Sept. I can not leave my brother. Can I get a continuance? He has chemo until the end of Nov,

You must notify the court and the other side ASAP of you situation and follow the court's local rules on requesting a continuance. If your ex has an attorney, you should contact his attorney requesting the continuance.
