Legal Question in Family Law in California

divorce

I heard that divorce papers have been filed. I sent someone to get a copy for me. the date on the paper filed 2/7/07. Summons stated I have 30 days to respond which means I have until tomorrow. I have not been served by any individual. Is this legal. do I have just one day left to respond?

In a general sense, the 30 days starts to run from the day you were served, and not the day that the case was filed.

For a specific opinion regarding your individual circumstances, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
