Legal Question in Family Law in California

In a divorce hearing, will I be grilled by spouses attorney? I am defending myself. I cannot afford an attorney. I am 70, retired, disabled and unemployed and only Social security.

Generally the judge asks questions in most short cause divorce hearings. Since you don't say what kind of hearing you're having, though, I can't say for sure how it will be handled.

If your spouse is represented by counsel, and you are testifying, you most certainly will be cross-examined. If your spouse has money, you may be able to find an attorney who can file a motion with the court to order your spouse to pay your attorney's fees, pursuant to Family Code section 2030, and possibly other code sections if needed.
