Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce and House

Prior to marriage, husband bought a house. After marriage, I moved in. Then this house was sold and we bought another one using $165,000 from that sale as downpayment for the new house. Husband had no job and does not really wanted to work, hence his income is $0. Me, wife worked hard and earns $8000 a month.

We then divorced. Husband gets his downpayment back and I have to pay monthly child support and I only have about $25,000 in my savings. Is this fair ? Did my attorney blow it ? Can I renegate on the settlement recommended by my attorney ?

Re: Divorce and House

The settlement sounds correct, except, of course, I cannot give an opinion on the child support as I do not have all of the factors. From what you have given, although it doesn't seem fair, there is nothing that I can say is wrong. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
