Legal Question in Family Law in California

How Do I divorce My husband?

My husband and I got married in June of 1997 (in S.C.), 6 months later, I came back to CA. to visit my mother, When I was on my way to CA, he called my mom and told her to let me know, that he didn't want me to come back.

ANYWAY, here it is 10 years later, and I am ready to divorce him, problem is, I have NO idea where he lives??

How can I divorce him if I can't find him?

***When I left S.C. he was still enlisted in the US Army...

Any help will be useful.

Re: How Do I divorce My husband?

Contact the army and ask if they can provide an address for him. If they refuse on the grounds of confidentiality then ask if they will mail a document to him. Your local congress person may be helpful to you in obtaining this information.

Well begin the effort by filing a divorce and the legal process will be served to your husband by way of publication.

Re: How Do I divorce My husband?

There's a way to do it. You can file in CA and ask to be allowed to serve it by publication. If you want additional instructions, go to your local law library. If you want assistance, feel free to give my office a call.
