Legal Question in Family Law in California
Divorce Judgement
In my divorce judgement, filed in 1995, I agreed to single 45,0000 payment to buy me out of our ''in common'' home. To date no payment has been made and my ex still lives in the home. Can I ask for interest on the amount if my ex came to me now with the money?

Re: Divorce Judgement
I have received your judgment and have reviewed it. It would appear that you can still collect your money and even better you should get half of the equity. However, I need answers to a couple of questions. I did not get a telephone number from you on the fax so please call me or fax a telephone number where I can reach you. Thank you. Pat McCrary
Re: Divorce Judgement
Yes, at the statutory 10% rate! You could also go into Court and seek a contempt order for his failure to abide the a lawful Judgement. You could seek not only interest, but attorneys fees and sanctions for having had to do so. You could even force a sell of the house for his failure to pay.
