Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce laws

What if someone remarries before they have divoced their first spouse? Do they have to get married again once the divorce is final? If they married in another state and don't send in the chapel certifate saying they are married will the marriage be legal? Say they married this past May and the divorce isn't final unil Dec will the chapel certificate be held as a legal document if it is sent when the divorce is final and be legal from May or will they have to be married again. Also is the person a bigamist and what can be done to them? I need questions answered for a relative that could be married to someone who is legally separated but not divorced. Also if they gave false information to attain the license can this be held against them?

Re: Divorce laws

The second marriage is void. For the marriage to be valid they would have to remarry after the divorce is completed.
