Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce: How long do you have to make changes after filing?

My Friends soon to be ex husband has his own business and is living in the family home. He paid her the equity in the home an child support as well as alimony, but she decided after filing, she wants to be put back on the deed of the house and wants to go for half of his business assets since he owns his own company and bought it while they were married. They filed papers 35 days ago. Is it possible to go back and ask for more?

No agreement for the division of community property is final until the judge says that it is final. Probably, you freind has an interest in the business of her husband. There are many, many variables that will effect whether the division of the home is final and what interest she has in the business. I don't see how this can be handled without an attorney and you freind needs to seek advise soon. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
