Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce with a noncooperative spouse

I have been separated since 1996. I married my husband in Las Vegas in 1988. I have sought a divorce after seven years of marriage but he did not cooperate. He has since moved from Ohio to California and will not give me his address. I have relocated to California, then New York and then I moved to Pennsylvania. We have never reconciled. Soon I will again relocate. Where and how do I file for divorce? We have no property and we did not have any children. If he would cooperate I would do all the paperwork myself for an uncontested divorce and save myself the time.

Please outline the legal steps that I need to follow to achieve a smooth divorce. Will I be obligated to pay him any fees as I am a professional career woman? He has been self supporting and claims he is financially stable.

Re: Divorce with a noncooperative spouse

You should contact an attorney in the state you are residing in and determine what needs to be done to complete the divorce process. Service by publication should be available in every state.
